Opportunity Description

AfriMAB the network of UNESCO reserves across Africa and Icelands GRÓ Land Restoration Training Programme (GRÓ LRT) have opened applications for the 2027 group of their joint fellowship for professionals from African biosphere reserves. Selected people will spend six months starting on 26 February 2027 at the Agricultural University of Iceland combining classes with a restoration project that is made for the needs of their own organization before going back to their jobs with a postgraduate diploma and university credits. The fellowship. Which covers tuition, travel, health insurance and a full living stipend. Responds to the increasing importance restoration has gained within the MAB Programmes plans to respond to requests made by the 2023 AfriMAB General Assembly and the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.

Opportunity Requirement

Applicants should have a role in ecosystem restoration work within a biosphere reserve and should have at least one university degree that is related to GRÓ LRT’s area of work like ecology, natural sciences, environmental management or studies and similar subjects.

Candidates must:

*Have least one year of experience working in a biosphere reserve;

*Be able to speak, read and write in English the main language used by GRÓ LRT;

*Be under the age of 40.

In some situations, GRÓ LRT has accepted people who do not meet the education requirement but have a lot of experience working in an area.
