To be eligible for the OHCHR Indigenous Fellowship Program 2027, applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

• Applicants must be indigenous. Applications from non-indigenous persons will not be considered, even if they work closely with indigenous organizations or communities.
• Indigenous women, LGBTQI+ individuals, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
• There is no age restriction, making the programme accessible to indigenous people of all ages.
• Formal educational qualifications are not required. OHCHR recognizes that many indigenous communities face barriers to accessing formal education.
• Applicants must be committed to sharing the knowledge and training gained during the fellowship with members of their indigenous communities or organizations after completing the programme.
• Candidates must be nominated and officially supported by an indigenous organization or community. Preference is given to organizations with an established membership or strong constituency.
• Applicants must have a good working knowledge of the language in which the fellowship is conducted.
